All that enhanced security that Sony implemented on its sites seem to have gone for naught. The site specifically set up for resetting PSN passwords has already been hacked.
The hack relies on an exploit of Sony's password reset system. It allows hackers to change users' passwords using only a PSN account email and date of birth. Those were two pieces of personal information obtained in the original hack, which brought down the PlayStation Network (PSN), Qriocity, and Sony Online Entertainment (SOE, for its MMORPGs, such as DC Universe Online) for weeks.
Given the new reports, it seems that Japan's decision to block restoration of PSN services in its region may not have been such a bad call.
Those who changed their email address at the same time they changed their password (knowing that had been hacked in the original exploit) are probably safe. If the exploit was used to change a user's password, the user would have received an email stating the password was changed, so if you did not see that
